First Sunday Allegro won by local Paul Dao

The event was well attended with 31 players vying for the $500 prize money, and many just enjoying a Sunday full of chess at the wonderful Ballarat Mechanics Institute. Paul managed 6.5 points out of the 7 available, only conceding a draw to Scott Stewart. He was a full point ahead of second place, Arthur Koelle, with event organiser Chris Kolak, and James Watson both on 5 points. The Under 1400 first prize winner was Peter Stickland on 4.5 points, with Julian, Sam and Jyani sharing 2nd place. See the results here..
