Victorian Country Chess Championship
Inviting regional chess players across Victoria
We are pleased to advise that the 2026 Victorian Country Chess Championship will be held in Bendigo over the weekend of 10th and 11th October.
The venue for the championships this year will be the Nancy Long Dining Hall at Latrobe University, Edwards Road Bendigo, the same venue as last year. It is modern, well‑appointed and situated in pleasant surroundings. The University is best accessed through gate 8 on Sharon Street, with the playing room at building D1 on the attached map. More information about the venue can be found here...
Details for the championship and how to enter are shown here and we encourage everyone considering competing to register and pay their entry fee on Trybooking at https://www.trybooking.com/DONWN. A $10 discount applies if completed before 2nd October. Registration via TryBooking assists with weekend administration. If this is not possible, payment can be made by EFT to the nominated bank account shown on the flyer. Entry fees will be refunded if a player withdraws and advises one of us the day before the championship begins.
We are again grateful that National Arbiter Nigel Barrow has agreed to act as Arbiter. Since Nigel will also be competing, a players committee will be elected before round 1 to review any appeal of an Arbiter decision. Thanks also to Bendigo Chess Club Inc for hosting the championships and attending to local arrangements.
This has always been a particularly friendly but competitive tournament, and we expect this year will be no exception.
Best wishes to everyone, stay healthy and we look forward to catching up in October.
