Lightning
# 2 - 11 Round Swiss 5 Minutes per side
Thursday night saw the 2nd
of 5 lightning tournaments to determine the Ballarat Lightning
Championship for 2005. The lightning tournament was a 11
round robin that progressed with an unclear notion of who
would win until the second last round where Patrick Cook
was able to escape from a bad position against John Frangakis
and win, giving him a clear lead into the final round. While
Robert Bailey was relieved to avoid a zero score with a
final round draw with Michael Screenan. Fun was had by many
with lots of crazy chess being played under the time contraints.

his queen at the final hurdle. Giving the Event to Scott
Stewart 8-9, Coming in second was Jamie Brotheridge 7-9
and third was shared between Judd Madden and Patrick Cook.
